Penn State chemistry majors have opportunities to work with some of the best research groups in the world on projects that have the potential to impact many of the most important issues facing our society today. Each year nearly seventy-five percent of our majors work in a research group during the academic year or the summer term.
Every chemistry major at Penn State has a different story about how they discovered their passion for science. For third-year chemistry major Ashley Saunders, the light-bulb moment came in middle school when she attended a law and CSI camp.
During her first year as an undergraduate, Kuzio took an elective that changed her way of looking at the world—literally. “I took an art history elective and fell in love with the subject, because I knew I still wanted to continue pursuing my degree in chemistry, I was determined to find a way to study the intersection of science and the arts.”
From the classroom to the lab, innovation is always in the air at Penn State. We are always working to offer students exciting and challenging educational experiences, in and outside the classroom. Keep reading to learn how we’re leading the way in education and research!
