Eberly College of Science celebrates its staff at annual ceremony

On November 13th, members of the Eberly College of Science gathered at the Nittany Lion Inn to celebrate the contributions of its staff at the annual Staff Appreciation Ceremony. The ceremony, hosted by the Staff Advisory Committee (SAC), has been highlighted outstanding staff contributions for over 20 years. 

Twelve outstanding staff members representing each academic department and the Dean’s Office were presented with excellence awards. One awardee was selected by the SAC to also receive the  Overall Staff Excellence Award. This year’s recipient of the Overall Staff Excellence Award is José Ponte Cordova from the Dean’s Office IT team.

“José has a work ethic and attitude that we sometimes have difficulty fostering in more senior positions,” wrote one of Cordova’s colleagues. “He constantly takes on work that is outside of his role while excelling at the work he is expected to perform. If you have worked with José, chances are that you want to work with him again. If we could clone anyone, José would be my pick!”

In addition to the staff awards, the SAC also recognized 19 staff members for years-of-service milestones and two recipients of the Staff Program Support Endowment.
