- C. R. Rao Receives 38th Honorary Doctoral Degree from the Indian Institute of Technology
- 18 August 2014 — Penn State's C.R. Rao, Emeritus Holder of the Eberly Family Chair in Statistics, long recognized as one of the world's top statisticians, has been awarded an honorary doctorate degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He received the degree at the Convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology on July 26 this year “for his contributions to the foundations of modern statistics through the introduction of concepts such as Cramer-Rao-Inequality, Rao-Blackwellization, Rao-Distance, Rao-Measure and for introducing the idea of Orthogonal Arrays for the industry to design high quality products.”

- 16 April 2014 — A gallery that honors the life in statistics of Penn State's C.R. Rao, Emeritus Holder of the Eberly Family Chair in Statistics, has been opened at the C.R. Rao Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science at Hyderabad, India. Nobel Laureate Venkatraman Ramakrishnan inaugurated the C.R. Rao Gallery, covering Rao’s 65-year career in statistics, in a ceremony held on 22 December 2013.

- 23 May 2013 — Penn State's C.R. Rao, Emeritus Holder of the Eberly Family Chair in Statistics, long recognized as one of the world's top statisticians, has been awarded an honorary doctorate degree from the State University of New York. He received the degree at the 167th commencement of the University at Buffalo earlier this year.

- 02 April 2012 — Penn State's C.R. Rao, Emeritus Holder of the Eberly Family Chair in Statistics, long recognized as one of the world's top statisticians, has been honored with his 35th and 36th honorary Doctor of Science degrees. The awarding universities are Karnatak University, located in Dharwad, India, and the International Sanskrit University, located in Tirupati, India. Rao was presented with the degrees at ceremonies during the respective universities.

- 15 August 2011 — Penn State's C.R. Rao, Emeritus Holder of the Eberly Family Chair in Statistics and long recognized as one of the world's top statisticians, has been honored with the honorary Doctor of Science degree by the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka. Rao was presented with the degree on 28 July, 2011, in a special convocation ceremony. This is the 34th of the honorary degrees he has received from universities in 19 countries spanning 6 continents.

- 18 February 2011 — Penn State's C.R. Rao, Emeritus Holder of the Eberly Family Chair in Statistics and one of the world's top statisticians, has been honored with the honorary degree of Doctor of Science at the first convocation of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University in Kakinada, India. This is the 33rd of the honorary degrees he has received from universities in 18 countries spanning 6 continents. Rao delivered the university's convocation address, "The role of statistics as the key technology of the future."
- C.R. Rao Receives the Royal Statistical Society's Guy Medal Award in Gold
- 05 January 2011 — Penn State's C.R. Rao, Emeritus Holder of the Eberly Family Chair in Statistics and one of the world's top statisticians, has been honored with the Royal Statistical Society's Guy Medal Award in Gold for his fundamental and innovative contributions to statistical theory and methodology. The Medal, which will be awarded at a ceremony on 29 June 2011, is the highest award given to a statistician by the United Kingdom.
