Modern mathematics consists of far more than the algebra, geometry, and trigonometry taught in high school. At Penn State, mathematics students focus on the basics of analysis and algebra, plus their choice of topology, number theory, logic, or numerical analysis.
There are eight options that lead to the B.S. degree: Actuarial Mathematics, Applied Analysis, Computational Mathematics, General Mathematics, Graduate Study, Systems Analysis, and Teacher Certification. Students also may earn a B.A. in mathematics. Jobs in actuarial science and systems analysis are expected to grow most rapidly.
