Climate and Diversity
The success of the Eberly College of Science is defined by the relationships between faculty, staff, students, and alumni. We understand that climate has an effect on the ability of our community to achieve personal and academic excellence. Climate is the word we use to describe the atmosphere in the college. Our intellectual strength is paralleled and enriched by our demographic diversity and by the way in which we create an inclusive climate for everyone.
We strongly support the University's nondiscrimination policy and seek to provide an environment of mutual respect among individuals with differing perspectives and ideas. The college's Code of Mutual Respect and Cooperation embodies the values that we hope our faculty, staff, and students possess, consistent with the aspirational goals expressed in the Penn State Values.
The college's Climate and Diversity Committee is charged by the Dean to assess and improve the climate of the college as a place to work and study. The committee meets monthly throughout the academic year to work on initiatives of diversity awareness, communication, and organizes the Dean's Climate and Diversity Award.
