The application process is competitive, but all students with an interest in surgery or neuroscience are encouraged to apply. While there are no course prerequisites, students must have a 3.40 cumulative GPA, and most competitive applicants have a strong foundation in upper-level sciences. Many students have completed at least one year of organic chemistry (including lab) and courses in advanced biology, college calculus, and anatomy. Additionally, competitive applicants have demonstrated their interest in the medical professions through medically-related extracurricular activities.
