"Are You Smarter than a Med Student?"

David C. Han, M.D.
Associate Professor of Surgery and Radiology and Vice Chair for Educational Affairs in the Department of Surgery

Think you have what it takes to be a medical student? Dr. David Han will discuss what Penn State med students learn about the body’s blood vessels including how they work, how they fail, and how we can fix them. He will share actual patient cases and real exam questions to provide a glimpse inside the arteries and veins of the body, and discuss new and innovative techniques and devices used to diagnose and treat both everyday and unusual vascular problems. Using an interactive audience response system, audience members can match wits against each other and Penn State’s doctors in training.

David Han is a vascular surgeon and teaches medical students and residents at Penn State College of Medicine. An expert in health policy and reimbursement, he serves on the American Medical Association Relative Value Update Committee, charged with providing recommendations for the value of physician work to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in biology from Penn State in 1988, Han went on to earn his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and completed his training in vascular surgery at the Mayo Clinic.  Han served as the 75th president of the Penn State Alumni Association (2007-09).
